Here are my results for the Exxon Championship.
4 dog class - 3rd place
6 dog class - 2nd place ( moved up from 3rd on day 1)
8 dog class - 2nd place ( moved up from 3rd on day 1)
Had allot of fun and it was great to be back in AK racing. Day 1 had lots of excitement, especially in the 8 dog class. We were only about 1/2 mile out when we saw Dori Hollingsworth walking in the trail. She had fallen and crashed into a tree with her head and lost her team. I stopped to ask if she was ok. She said not really and said to keep going. So now I was looking for her loose team! Another 1/4 mile we passed the ball field where they were having dog park day or something so there were about 15 dogs running to the fence, which was only about 3 feet from the trail. About 2 more miles and we came across the loose team. We had to go way out in the snow to pass and when we did we got tangled. Then we caught up to Jason Dunlap, had a good pass then on to the airstrip where people were having problems. Some teams went off the trail as the trail left the airstrip, we missed all of that but we did do some pooping, passing and re passing with Jason on the airstrip and a huge thanks to him for helping me untangle, what a sport! Then just as I thought there could be any more excitement, we startled two horses and their riders just off the side of the trail. The horses were spinning and bucking while their riders were screaming. Not something you see every day on a dog trail. Pretty exciting and great job on the dogs part to stay focused thru all of that. After talking to the other mushers most everyone had an interesting / eventful race. Greg Sellentin also gets some bonus points for being the one that picked up Dori and carried her to her sled. Not an easy task having 2 people stand on the back of the sled. Hopefully she recovers fast, I know her back was hurting and her husband ran the team the 2nd day for her.
So I was happy with our performance this weekend and looking forward to having a good night sleep. Also looking forward to having an appetite back in the morning. I have such a nervous stomach on race day that I almost can't eat. I want to, but just can't.
Next race on the schedule, possibly the Raven Electric 10 dog race here in Anchorage next weekend, Fri, Sat and Sun.
We'll see...

About us
About Us ~
Our kennel is made up of hound / AK husky cross sprint race sled dogs. We are based out of Fairbanks and race around the great state of Alaska. We are a world class kennel that takes the sport of dog mushing very seriously.
Both of us, Jennifer Probert-Erhart and Carl Erhart, are Athabascan Natives from interior Alaska. Carl grew up in Tanana and Jennifer in Tok/Tanacross. Our history in the sport goes back many generations. The Probert, Denny, Ehart and Woods families combined have countless hours and miles on the back of a dog sled and we are blessed to come from such a talanted, amazing and gifted group of people. The stories, advice and information that we get from our family is not only interesting but critical to the success of our kennel. Carrying on not only a family tradition, but a sport that was a way of life for our Athatbascan people is a great honor for both of us.
Currently we compete primarily in the limited class races but plan on running more open class races. Our dreams of running the "big ones" meaning the Open North American and the Rondy are getting closer and closer to being a reality. Our kids also compete in the junior races and our parents still play an active role in the kennel.
We invite you to follow along as we prepare the dogs for raceing, travel around the state to compete in the races and share the ups and downs of the wonderful, exciting sport of sprint dog mushing.
We are looking for sponsors to help with the cost of food, vet care and travel expenses. For more information about becoming a sponsor please contact us directly at prodogkennel@gmail.com
Thank you for taking your time to spend with us!
