It was a long flight, but both Brian and I are back in Anchorage. It's nice to be back home! The dogs traveled well again. Huge thanks to George at the Boston Logan Airport for all his help with the dogs. It was way easier that I expected. I think the airport part of the whole trip was what worried me the most. Between the crates, the health certs, the water dishes, the extra baggage, the extra baggage fees and all the airline rules it was pretty nerve racking. For example my hooks, those would definitely be considered a weapon, as well as the gang line chain or the chain tool. All are also heavy, so organizing everything is key. Glad that part is over.
So it's 3:30am AK time, but 7:30am back in Daaquam. I have been on a schedule of getting up between 5am and 6 am, which would be between 1am and 2 am here...need to try to reset my clock asap.
Tomorrow Greg and Ed will fly in on the same 2 flights with the remaining dogs. Brian and I will check out the Anchorage trails to see if they are trainable. If they are ok then we'll probably get the dogs out for a stretch.
Brian is already watching the hunting channel here. That's about the only thing that they don't have in Daaquam as far as our t.v. shows. It was interesting to watch everything from The Dog Whisperer to Sponge Bob in French. They basically just take all of our shows and voice over, it was a little bazaar. They did have the Today show and of all things, Dr. Phil in English. There were about 16 channels, of which at least half were hockey all day everyday!
Keep posted for more photos and more race info.
Hopefully we will be racing in Montana Creek this weekend.

About us
About Us ~
Our kennel is made up of hound / AK husky cross sprint race sled dogs. We are based out of Fairbanks and race around the great state of Alaska. We are a world class kennel that takes the sport of dog mushing very seriously.
Both of us, Jennifer Probert-Erhart and Carl Erhart, are Athabascan Natives from interior Alaska. Carl grew up in Tanana and Jennifer in Tok/Tanacross. Our history in the sport goes back many generations. The Probert, Denny, Ehart and Woods families combined have countless hours and miles on the back of a dog sled and we are blessed to come from such a talanted, amazing and gifted group of people. The stories, advice and information that we get from our family is not only interesting but critical to the success of our kennel. Carrying on not only a family tradition, but a sport that was a way of life for our Athatbascan people is a great honor for both of us.
Currently we compete primarily in the limited class races but plan on running more open class races. Our dreams of running the "big ones" meaning the Open North American and the Rondy are getting closer and closer to being a reality. Our kids also compete in the junior races and our parents still play an active role in the kennel.
We invite you to follow along as we prepare the dogs for raceing, travel around the state to compete in the races and share the ups and downs of the wonderful, exciting sport of sprint dog mushing.
We are looking for sponsors to help with the cost of food, vet care and travel expenses. For more information about becoming a sponsor please contact us directly at prodogkennel@gmail.com
Thank you for taking your time to spend with us!
