Ed and Greg made it back to Anchorage Wednesday night. They got a little taste of the stormy weather in Boston, but got out of there just in time.
I'm definately feeling the jet lag now. The last two mornings I have been totally exhausted.
Yesterday we traveled out to Willow to pick up our dogs then on to Montana Creek for a training run. They had about 6-8" of new snow, we had to put the truck in 4wheel drive just to get up Greg Sellentin's drive way. What a beautiful place they have there. The dogs were happy and healthy and I was greeted with my first fellow musher hug.
We got to the track at Montana Creek and there were a few other mushers there training. Brian and I took out a 10 dog team double sledding. It was absolutly beautiful! It was so nice to be back in Alaska on a famillar trail. Even though we were heading thru lots and lots of fresh snow, the dogs did great and we had fun. THIS is what I would have been training on to condition my dogs for the trails in Quebec. THIS is what I would have used to select my team for the trails in Quebec. There were about 8 "of fresh snow on top of a hard packed trail, so the dogs were safe, but had to work. When we got back from our run I was greeted with yet another fellow musher hug from Ken Chezik. He had some very supportive words and made me feel good about our performance in Quebec. Man it's nice to be home!
Greg and his friend came to the track to work on the trails. The dedication and efforts that our volunteers here in Alaska put in on our trails is absolutly amazing! We as mushers are very fortunate to have people like Greg, Bill, Egil, my Dad, Curtis and the list goes on and on and on. They all enjoy doing what they are doing and log hunderds and hundreds of volunteer hours each season to make sure that we have safe and competitive trails. My hat goes off to each and every one of you who have been out there...thank you!
We'll be racing this weekend in Montana creek on Saturday and Sunday. Will keep you posted on race results.

About us
About Us ~
Our kennel is made up of hound / AK husky cross sprint race sled dogs. We are based out of Fairbanks and race around the great state of Alaska. We are a world class kennel that takes the sport of dog mushing very seriously.
Both of us, Jennifer Probert-Erhart and Carl Erhart, are Athabascan Natives from interior Alaska. Carl grew up in Tanana and Jennifer in Tok/Tanacross. Our history in the sport goes back many generations. The Probert, Denny, Ehart and Woods families combined have countless hours and miles on the back of a dog sled and we are blessed to come from such a talanted, amazing and gifted group of people. The stories, advice and information that we get from our family is not only interesting but critical to the success of our kennel. Carrying on not only a family tradition, but a sport that was a way of life for our Athatbascan people is a great honor for both of us.
Currently we compete primarily in the limited class races but plan on running more open class races. Our dreams of running the "big ones" meaning the Open North American and the Rondy are getting closer and closer to being a reality. Our kids also compete in the junior races and our parents still play an active role in the kennel.
We invite you to follow along as we prepare the dogs for raceing, travel around the state to compete in the races and share the ups and downs of the wonderful, exciting sport of sprint dog mushing.
We are looking for sponsors to help with the cost of food, vet care and travel expenses. For more information about becoming a sponsor please contact us directly at prodogkennel@gmail.com
Thank you for taking your time to spend with us!
